Lectures to celebrate the life and legacy of William Rankine

This is a special event exploring the legacy and impact of the engineering powerhouse that was William Rankine on the bicentenary of his birth. 

 

The event will open the conference and the audience will include the Rankine 2020 delegates, members of local Scottish Engineering Societies and the University of Glasgow students and alumni.

 

Programme

The programme will explore subjects that William Rankine studied, taught and influenced. Lectures will include

  • Welcome to Glasgow University
  • Rankine's Glasgow and his Contribution to Engineering Education.

  • Rankine’s legacy in Thermodynamics
  • Rankine’s legacy in Civil Engineering
  • Rankine’s legacy in Metallurgy
  • Rankine’s legacy in Shipbuilding

This event is part of the Rankine 2020 Conference. All conference delegates will be registered to attend. 

 

Non-Conference delegate

To celebrate William Rankine's strong connections to the City of Glasgow a number of places at this event will be made available to members of local Scottish Engineering Societies and the University of Glasgow students and alumni. Booking will be essential and will open on  1st April 2020.
