I am an international delegate, why do I need to pay VAT?

Conferences that take place in the UK are liable for UK VAT as they are classed under VAT legislation as 'services' and therefore VAT is chargeable at source. Overseas delegates must pay the VAT charged on their invoice initially but can claim this back from the UK VAT office. For information on reclaiming VAT see Notice no 723 which can be obtained from www.hmrc.gov.uk

Further guidance can be found below.

Delegates based outside the EU: https://www.gov.uk/vat-refunds-for-non-eu-businesses-visiting-the-uk

Additional information

This event is part of the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) conference schedule. The IOR is organising the event on behalf of the IIR and in association with KCORC and IESIS.

The delegate list will include the name and company affiliation of each delegate. The delegate list will be given to everyone attending the event including exhibitors and sponsors.

The delegate directory will allow conference delegates to make one to one contact for discussion and networking opportunities. All conference delegates will also be invited to join the Conference LinkedIn Group so that networking opportunities are available to delegates.

All bookings are subject to the IOR terms and conditions.
