Next generation sustainability for cold store facilities - webinar

19 Mar 2020 13:00 to 14:00

1 frigologixJoin us for a webinar exploring next-generation sustainability for cold store facilities

Our speakers will be discussing the opportunities, drivers and barriers to sustainability in cold stores and refrigerated food factories.  The webinar will include speakers who are international experts in the integration of sustainable working practices, energy system structures, policies and cold store efficiency.

Learn how Frigologix's progressive investment practices in control systems, green solar-energy generation and now energy storage, has ensured their business uses energy as efficiently as possible, resulting in substantial energy savings every day and maximising the use of available energy sources. The Frigologix site in Belgium operates 24hrs a day with 60,000 freezer pallet and 5,000 fresh pallet places and more than 1 million movements a year.

An interactive session will explore the questions of:

- What policy & regulatory drivers for energy and climate change in the EU & UK are on the horizon that cold store owners need to consider in developing their energy use policies?

- Why is taking a strategic approach to energy and environmental challenges is key to success?

- How can we address and overcome barriers to adopting new technologies and business models - and how can organisational enablers help?

- How can attitudes make a real difference to the successful introduction of new more sustainable technologies?

Carole Bond of Carbon Data Resources and Xinfang Wang of Birmingham University will lead this session.

We will also have an update from the CryoHub project on developing the demonstrator of the CryoHub energy storage concept being trialled at Frigologix's site later this year from project manager Judith Evans of London South Bank University.
