The UK International Refrigeration Committee (IRC) promotes international development of refrigeration by the sharing of information and technology. It provides its members with the opportunity to influence international technology developments and to be the first to know about innovation, research and world developments.
The IRC provides representation for UK industry at the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR). The IIR is an intergovernmental organisation representing 61 countries providing a range of technical information including informatory notes, international newsletters and publishes the International Journal of Refrigeration. There is also a comprehensive on line shop and research database, FRIDOC. The IRC was formed to ensure that the UK remains a member of this inter-governmental organisation.
As a member of the IIR the UK is able to host influential international research conferences. Recent events held in the UK include the IIR Gustav Lorentzen Natural Working Fluids Conference, the IIR Cold Chain and Sustainability Conference and a new conference on HFO refrigerants being held in 2018.
The IRC also offers its members annual half day briefing events on topical issues with international speakers held in the UK. Recent topics have included heat pump market developments and progress towards achieving the 20-20-20 efficiency targets in the EU.
