IOR provides these support and resources for STEM ambassadors and anyone who wants to promote careers in our sector to schools, science fairs or exhibitions:

• STEM ToolKit - everything you need to take into a school or exhibition to talk about our industry.  A roll up stand, t-shirt, fridge magnets, mug, business cards, jigsaw, lego "building your own fridge plant" kit and printed cross words and word searches as well as a fantastic fridges backpack.  We have 10 kits available that anyone can borrow. Contact us to be put in touch with your local kit holder.  
• Slide show on engineering and careers. You can download a pdf version here - contact us to be sent a full editable power point to personalise)
• Fantastic Fridges online games and activities for all ages as well as information about the world of refrigeration science, careers quizzes, day in the life etc.
• Careers in Cooling video on you tube produced by the IOR explains the role of refrigeration and air conditioning in the modern world and interviews with people in various careers including service engineers, business owners, supermarkets, sales, designers, researchers and professors.
• School activity on Climate Change designed for Yr9 to explore Climate Change as part of the Geography curriculum. The slide deck was developed by Co-op group and is provided here with their kind permission.
• Lego "build your own fridge plant" kit for STEM ambassadors - download instructions.

Interested in becoming a STEM ambassador?

STEM ambassadors are recognised as part of the STEM learning network. Once signed up you join a database where you describe can offer talks as well as responding to requests from schools or exhibitions.   Several IOR members are already STEM ambassadors - search refrigeration on the STEM Learning website or contact us to be put in touch with a local STEM ambassador.

• STEMAZING inspiration academy - get training and support for women working in the sector to carry out fun science activities with primary age children (companies can sign up a sponsors to gain access to training - discounts available if you say you are recommended by the IOR!)
