IOR is the UK representative of this inter-governmental institute which exists to promote the advancement of research in refrigeration applications globally. IOR sends representatives to IIR commissions and regularly organises UK workshops and international conferences, helping to raise the standing of UK refrigeration expertise. The UK delegate to the IIR is Judith Evans FInstR, chair of the IOR International Refrigeration Committee.
Appointments are made to various British Standards Institution committees and working groups to provide expertise on topics such as refrigeration safety, refrigerant classification, environmental standards, component efficiency standards, electrical product standards. The IOR Technical Committee is responsible for making nominations to BSI committees.
The UK represented at the ASHRAE associate alliance by the IOR. We co-operate with ASHRAE on information sharing, technical matters and events. The IOR is a member of the ASHRAE Associate Alliance represented by the IOR Chief Executive and President.
The IOR and IRI have a long standing partnership on technical publication sharing.
The IOR and CIBSE have a co-operative arrangement for licencing of IOR members for the Engineering Council at Chartered, Incorporated and Engineering Technician level. We also work together on events and publication development.
The IOR is recognised as a professional affiliate engineering professional body by the Engineering Council, who regulate the engineering industry in the UK and provide registration of individual engineers at Chartered, Incorporated and Engineering Technician level. The IOR has a joint registration agreement with CIBSE for its eligible members.

This international body seeks to promote safe efficient use of ammonia and other low GWP natural refrigeration solutions. They offer a range of training and technical services and co-operate with the IOR on sharing information and resources. www.iiar.org
