This bulletin outlines a number of issues relating to the use, servicing and problems associated with oil in commercial refrigeration systems. POE oils are now used in the majority of applications but some smaller compressors may use PAG oils. These synthetic oils are hygroscopic and hence will absorb moisture. Therefore, care needs to be taken to ensure minimum exposure to air occurs when using these lubricants.
