The paper and presentation will focus on implementing technologies and operational strategies capable of significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the European retail sector. As part of this work, advanced modelling tools such as EnergyPlus will be used to simulate building energy usage and evaluate the impact of technology implementation on reducing carbon emissions from 2020 to 2050. The modelling will aim to understand the potential for decarbonization by examining the interactions between selected technologies and factors such as food refrigeration systems, HVAC systems, building structures, and environmental conditions across various energy landscapes and baseline scenarios in six European countries with diverse climates. Furthermore, it will assess the current level of decarbonization achieved and the potential for future decarbonization, aiming to determine the technical feasibility of reaching close to net-zero emissions
