Carbon dioxide refrigeration - pitfalls and possibilties

Andy Pearson winner of the J&E Hall Gold Medal for innovation, will give a presentation which explores the reasons why carbon dioxide is so effective as a heat transfer fluid and suggests several methods of comparative assessment against other refrigerants.

He will also describe some of the benefits that are possible with the use of carbon dioxide as a refrigerant, including low temperature freezing, high density IT cooling and high temperature heat recovery. Throughout the talk he will refer to the unusual properties of carbon dioxide which require special attention to detail in system designs. Some of the common pitfalls will then be identified and discussed - including ways to turn these pitfalls to advantage.
