Evolution of the Turbocor Compressor

The Turbocor compressor is one of the most important technical developments in compressor design in recent years. It is characterized by high efficiency, variable control and oil-free operation using innovative technologies such as magnetic bearings. There are now over 16,000 compressors operating worldwide used in applications varying from central air conditioning to process cooling.

Ron Conry, inventor of the Turbocor compressor and winner of the Institute of Refrigeration's 2009 J&E Hall Gold Medal for Innovation gives a personal history of his road to discovery. He has pioneered HVACR design, manufacturing, and service businesses for over three decades most recently with Danfoss but also previously within his own manufacturing businesses.
