Relief Valve Arrangements for CO2 Refrigeration Systems
The adoption of transcritical carbon dioxide systems in refrigeration has presented several new challenges to system designers, installers and maintenance teams. This paper provides an overview of key properties of carbon dioxide and the reasons why it needs to be treated differently. It explains the purpose and function of pressure relief valves and reviews published literature and case studies of system installations. Test results are also presented and analysed.
This paper is relevant to people in all sectors of the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump markets where carbon dioxide is used.
