Heat pump innovation - adsorption gas-fired heat pumps
This paper outlines a gas-fired heat pump system intended to replace conventional condensing boilers under development at Warwick University. The adsorption machine uses ammonia refrigerant and active carbon adsorbent in a four adsorption configuration. The nominal heat output is 7kW. Predicted annual average COP based on gross calorific value is 1.35 in a UK application with low temperature radiators. The system is described together with the simulation model, the test facilities and procedures.
