Outline for the paper and presentation

Alexander Twining proposed CO2 as a refrigerant in his 1850 British patent and it became the refrigerant of choice for many applications before being ousted by CFCs and HCFCs. It is now an important alternative for the replacement of environmentally harmful refrigerants, and CO2 hot water heat pumps are extremely popular on the Japanese market. This paper examines the technical and economic viability of CO2 DHW heat pumps on the UK market.
