The Future of Refrigerants

The UK’s net-zero commitments place significant pressure on users of high GWP refrigerants to transition towards lower emissions alternatives. But how will refrigerants need to change in the coming years to meet these obligations and how will this affect refrigeration systems themselves? This webinar will look at the policies driving the transition towards lower emission refrigerants and focus on the technological changes in refrigerants and systems for cold stores and temperature-controlled distribution.

Graeme Fox CEng FInstR, Head of Technical, Building Engineering Services Association

Graeme is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the IOR and a Member of CIBSE. He is the Head of Technical at the BESA Group and REFCOM – the UK’s largest F-Gas Register, a Director at ACRIB, a Past President of AREA – the European RACHP contractors association, and President Elect at the IOR. He has over 30 years’ experience in the HVAC sector, mainly in building services air conditioning and refrigeration, and for the last 5 years has been working with the trade associations to help contractors with their legal compliance and technical needs.

 

Mark Hughes, Business Development Manager, Chemours Fluorochemicals

Mark holds a PhD in Chemistry from Sussex University and has been with Chemours for more than 30 years with the last 10 years in the Refrigeration business. He is a member of Chemours EMEA team whose objective is to develop opportunities for new Opteon™ refrigerant blends based on low global warming HFO technology.

 

Richard Parr MInstR, BSc, Engineering Director, Ryan-Jayberg

Richard joined the refrigeration industry in 2005 having studied Design & Innovation. He started his career as a refrigeration system designer in the commercial sector, progressing to management. He now sits on the board of Directors for Ryan Jayberg where he is responsible for aligning engineering activities with company goals and objectives assisted by his team of Senior and Graduate Design Engineers.

In his career to date he has seen significant change driven in the phase down of FGases and as a result has become passionate about natural Co2 refrigeration technology and its application and adoption across sectors and has made a firm commitment to assist clients in reducing their carbon footprint to provide a sustainable pathway for now & future generations.
