This careers meeting hosted by Bitzer UK will explore the range of different types of career that the refrigeration air conditioning and heat pump sector offers. Guest speakers will share their career path stories and Heads from local schools will discuss what they need from industry to help increase interest in engineering as a career choice. The meeting participants will also share their experience of industry initiatives which are successfully engaging with young people and promoting our fantastic industry to the next generation.

Lisa Pogson, Joint Managing Director, Airmaster
Airmaster was a ‘one man band’ 25 years ago but now employs a team of 40 people in all sorts of technical and non technical roles. It is a growing company with turn over of £10 million, with a strong commitment to customer relationships and investing in staff and training. Lisa is passionate about working with local educators at all levels to promote the industry.
Jane Gartshore, Partner, Cool Concerns
Jane runs a successful technical training company, is a past President of the Institute of Refrigeration, has appeared on the list of the Top 50 Women in Engineering in the UK and has been instrumental in industry environmental awareness campaigns. She will draw from her 40 years as an engineer in a range of roles, what she has learnt and recommendations to anyone considering a career in engineering. She will share a success story which illustrates the impact of effective careers help and guidance.
Shelley Bowdery, previously Head of Maths and Science at St Joseph’s College
For 35 years Shelly has been a teacher of Science and latterly Head of Faculty for Maths and Science at St Joseph’s College in Reading which was named the TES Independent School of the Year, 2015. She is dedicated to encouraging quality, enthusiastic, female candidates to apply for University STEM subjects, and has seen many young women begin a successful career in the sector.
Ian Fisher, Business Development Manager, Airmaster
Joined as an apprentice and worked his way up to Business Development Manager. As well as supporting and training technicians and engineers at Airmaster. Ian is keen to share his knowledge with those new to the industry and those who have never heard of it. With his unique blend of energy and commitment to reducing the environmental impact of air conditioning, Ian is an inspiration to many young professionals.
