The Engineering Council is currently carrying out our five-yearly Standards Review, and would very much welcome our views. The review includes the requirements for registration as a professional engineer or technician, along with the rules and guidelines for carrying out registration and the processes that support it.
They want to hear from anyone who has an interest in the content of the Standards or how they work. This includes people affected by the Standards, such as prospective registrants and engineering employers, as well as ‘users’ of the Standards documents such as the professional engineering institutions and education providers.
You are invited to answer any or all of the questions, which are split into sections to make them easier to navigate:
Your responses will help shape the future of standards for professional engineers and we encourage you to share the consultation with colleagues or contacts who may be interested in responding. A summary of responses will be published after the closing date.
The consultation is available at www.engc.org.uk/consultations and will close at midnight on 24 October 2018

BESA, on behalf of the Engineering Building Services Skills Authority (EBBSA,) are setting up Sector Groups (SG’s) in occupations within Building Services. The SG’s purpose is to bring employers within specific occupation groups together to determine the roles that exist within that occupational area, thereafter determine a competency framework for these roles. The IOR is pleased to be invited to support this work and to help co-ordinate outputs with its own plans to map skills needs and roles in the RACHP sector.
