This Good Practice Guide gives guidance on the pressure and duration for strength and leak tightness pressure testing to ensure that a system is both safe and leak tight after installation or after major component replacement. All refrigeration systems fall under the scope of the Pressure Equipment Directive and this procedure is also a requirement of BS EN 378:2008 the Refrigeration System Safety Standard and the F Gas Regulations, as a method of ensuring the leak tightness of a system. The text details the various requirements for safe pressure testing.
