Auxiliary Engineering Support Technicians are required for clinical settings in field hospitals.

There are a number of new medical facilities being built at ExCel London as well as two other Field Hospitals in Manchester and Birmingham to treat patients with COVID-19. The NHS England staff along with the Army are managing these facilities which will be needed to care for potentially over 4000 patients. However, as doctors, nurses and healthcare scientists are drawn from the hospitals and Trusts across the surrounding regions. Additional support staff are needed to ensure that services continue to run smoothly. The effective delivery of clinical care will only be achieved if engineers and technicians work alongside their clinical counterparts.

Engineering bodies have been approached by NHS England to ask for volunteers to help with a range of engineering requirements that will enable them to continue to deliver frontline services.

It is likely that they will need volunteers on site and in the regional hospitals within the week, if not within the next few days.

A letter explaining the call is available here

Job Description

Within the letter is a link to a form which the volunteers must complete to enable us to database their offer. The Royal Academy of Engineering has agreed to maintain this database but selection will be made by the NHS Team based on need.
