Dominic Dray from Eastleigh College has been announced as this year's SkillFridge Gold Winner at last week's WorldSkills UK in Birmingham. Dominic is working for Royale Refrigeration & Air Conditioning where he is currently half way through his apprenticeship. Runner ups were Chandler Davison of Thermocold who won silver and Sam Gills who got Bronze.
We would like to congratulate Dominic and all the participants in the competition who are helping to showcase talent and raise the profile of the industry at these national competitions. IOR has published its latest Education Guidance Note in the series, this time focusing on Coaching as a way of employers supporting engineering and technician development. The Guidance Note (16) gives a guide to understanding the benefits of coaching, how this differs from mentoring and includes a useful list of organisations who can offer help with setting up coaching schemes or offer coaching.
