This event, which will be held in London and in Oxfordshire from 6 to 8 September, will be dealing with three themes around this topic including heat and drought.
The programme will be as follows:
Day 1 is largely dedicated to presentations in 3 parallel streams addressing Heat Impacts and Drought; Fluvial and Pluvial Flooding; and Rising Sea Levels and Coastal Flooding. In addition, Q&A and interactive panel discussion sessions will be facilitated, and there will be a prestige lecture event and networking reception taking place in the evening.
Day 2 will be a parallel streams based interactive workshop opening with a plenary on HR Wallingford activities and information on available funding opportunities in UK, India and Japan for research and development work in the area of adaptation and resilience. This will be followed by facilitated networking in the same 3 parallel streams as Day 1 in which delegates will form collaborative sub-groups to work on identifying key knowledge and research gaps followed by scoping and developing future outputs that may comprise joint research; paper publications; joint proposals for research bids and funding call responses, in a bi- or multi-lateral set-up. Day 2 will be jointly led by HR Wallingford and Brunel University who have expertise in all 3 parallel stream topics and more particularly a long-standing relationship on the jointly run Flood and Coastal Engineering programme and the Centre of Flood Risk and Resilience. A visit to HR Wallingford and their outstanding research facilities (e.g. the Froude modelling hall and the Tsunami generator) will be of great interest to delegates, a tour will be included in the day. There will be a workshop dinner in the environs of Brunel University at the close of Day 2.
Day 3 will be at Brunel University and focussed on providing an opportunity for collaborative groups to deepen their relationships and finalise next steps towards tangible workshop outputs.
