The Talk

Join this Masterclass to gain an understanding of best practice in the thermal insulation of domestic, communal, and commercial heat pump systems.

This masterclass will be led by Lawrence Leask FInstR and Chris Ridge, and will focus on practical ways to achieve high-quality, efficient, and reliable insulation outcomes in real-world installations. Drawing on guidance from the TICA Good Practice Guide, developed in collaboration with the Institute of Refrigeration and BESA, the session will highlight the standards, materials, and techniques that underpin effective performance.

You’ll gain insight into common challenges, what “good” looks like on-site, and how thoughtful insulation design contributes to system efficiency and longevity.

The session includes a live Q&A, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas directly with the presenters.

Why attend?

  • Understand what good practice looks like in heat pump insulation

  • Learn how to improve installation efficiency and performance

  • Explore guidance from the new TICA Good Practice Guide

  • Ask your questions in a live, interactive Q&A

Presenters

Lawrence Leask FInstR

Lawrence is an energy consultant and Fellow of the Institute of Refrigeration. For over 20 years, he has been delivering projects to improve the efficiency of refrigeration systems, process chillers, air handling units, pumps, and fans. He has a wealth of practical experience and knowledge and will explain how often small changes to business practices and installations can lead to large energy savings.

Chris Ridge

Chris is the Technical Director for the Thermal Insulation Contractors Association (TICA). With fifteen years in the thermal insulation industry and over 25 years of experience in the construction and energy sectors, he is well aware that achieving net-zero carbon is a key challenge for the construction industry. Often, the importance of correctly installing and maintaining thermal insulation is overlooked. Chris is keen to share information on the vital role it plays in reducing energy usage and increasing efficiency.
