This year's theme is #NextGenCooling - this will require engineers and researchers to push innovation and technology forward, so the IOR is looking to the future with members sharing how they are promoting careers, alongside profiles and interviews with apprentices. We are also getting technical with some talks on fun themes like “Why you should clean your condenser on World Refrigeration Day”, and finding out what can we learn from some of the big names of the past like William Rankine and Lord Kelvin.
Sign up now for our webinars or follow us on social media with clips released throughout the day using #IORWRD23 on the 26th June.
A live webinar with IOR members Lawrence Leask and Dermot Cotter. This webinar is looking at one of the biggest contributors to excess energy use in refrigeration systems. If you really want to make an impact you should Clean your Condenser on World Refrigeration Day!
A talk by Physicist and TV Broadcaster Helen Czerski reminds us of what we can learn from the achievements of the past. This presentation was first broadcast as part of the William Rankine Memorial event.
We talk about getting the message out into schools and careers fairs. How members are inspiring young people with stories about their career in cooling and switching them on to science and engineering.
A conversation with Gemma Weston, Luke Haile and Ellie Clare, All previous finalists in IOR and RAC Cooling Awards Student of the Year. They discuss the value of apprenticeships for those new to the industry and their employers. This interview was first broadcast as part Cool Careers Celebration in 2021.
Throughout the day we will be adding short videos to our linkedin, facebook, twitter and Instagram channels showing members using the new IOR STEM ToolKits, Fantastic Fridges website, and sharing some simple and fun science experiments to inspire the next generation so we can continue to develop #nextgencooling.
