Dr Laura Kent of IMechE will be a keynote speaker for the IOR’s International Refrigeration Committee’s Business Briefing on Extreme Heat taking place in Birmingham on 14 November 2023.
Drawing insights from IMechE's report she co-authored on "Adapting Industry to Withstand Rising Temperatures and Future Heatwaves," Dr. Kent's presentation will provide an exploration into the impacts of the increasingly frequent extreme heat events on both industries and their workforce. She will also delve into the crucial role engineers must play in responding to these challenges.

IOR has published its latest Education Guidance Note in the series, this time focusing on Coaching as a way of employers supporting engineering and technician development. The Guidance Note (16) gives a guide to understanding the benefits of coaching, how this differs from mentoring and includes a useful list of organisations who can offer help with setting up coaching schemes or offer coaching.
