Olympic Ski Jumping Competitor Eddie the Eagle will be the guest speaker at this year's IOR Annual Dinner taking place on 23 February in London.

Michael Edwards, better known as Eddie 'the Eagle' Edwards, was the first competitor to represent Great Britain in Olympic Ski jumping. Despite not winning in his sport, Eddie's heroic failures won the hearts and minds of the public.

The after-dinner guest speaker is only one element of the IOR Annual Dinner which also includes: 

  • Welcome drinks reception 
  • A three-course meal including 1/2 bottle of wine per person
  • Speech from the IOR President Graeme Fox FInstR
  • Awards for exceptional individual achievement in progressing our industry

New IOR Guidance Note on Coaching

IOR has published its latest Education Guidance Note in the series, this time focusing on Coaching as a way of employers supporting engineering and technician development.  The Guidance Note (16) gives a guide to understanding the benefits of coaching, how this differs from mentoring and includes a useful list of organisations who can offer help with setting up coaching schemes or offer coaching.
