The Institute of Refrigeration proudly accepted an award at last week’s ACR Awards for its continued commitment to supporting the industry.
The Training/Mentoring Initiative of the Year Award recognised the IOR’s STEM Toolkit. The kit includes a Fantastic Fridges backpack, a roll-up stand, a branded t-shirt, fridge magnets, a mug, business cards, a jigsaw puzzle, a LEGO "Build Your Own Fridge Plant" kit, and printed or online crosswords and word searches. It is part of the IOR’s STEM outreach initiatives. Members are encouraged to take the toolkit to schools and career fairs, helping to inspire the next generation of engineers. This initiative forms part of the Institute’s wider strategic focus on education.
In addition, Lisa Waters, IOR Events Manager, was honoured with the Alan Moore Award for individuals whose efforts on behalf of the RACHP industry have largely gone unrecognised. Her citation highlighted her invaluable role, stating: “None of the IOR Programme would happen without her diligence or patient work.” CEO Miriam Rodway added “We’re incredibly proud to have Lisa as part of our team. Her outstanding contributions span everything from coordinating our webinar programme to organising major international conferences—and, of course, the flagship IOR Annual Dinner. She’s a tremendous asset to the Institute and provides fantastic support to members. On behalf of all of those who work with her, we are delighted to congratulate her on receiving this industry recognition.”

The domestic fridge features on this BBC programme including lots of useful history, manufacturing and refrigerant information. Whilst it mainly focuses on domestic fridges it also has an interview with Lisa-Jayne Cook as President of the Institute of Refrigeration taking BBC presenter Hannah Fry through a very chilly looking cold store. Don't miss the presenter visiting "fridge school" to take apart a fridge under expert supervision of the teachers. Great PR for the industry! See on BBC iplayer now https://lnkd.in/er3dmPDa
