glass v2The nomination of Kevin Glass as the only candidate for the next President-Elect of the IOR will be going forward to the AGM on 2nd November 2017. No additional candidates have been put forward this year from the membership. The President-Elect will support the existing President until their term of office ends in November 2018.

Kevin has prepared a statement to introduce himself in support of this nomination which is available here: www.ior.org.uk/president-elect-nominee.

The IOR Constitution requires that the Trustees makes a recommendation for a candidate for President-Elect to the membership. A Nominating Committee consisting of the current Trustees and Past Presidents considered 15 potential nominees against a specification for the role and sought out the nominees’ availability and interest. The Trustees decided this year to make a single recommendation to members. They considered that the nominee would fulfil the role extremely well and has a long association with the IOR and high standing in the sector.

Members were able to propose additional candidates up to the deadline of noon on 1st September 2017 which has now passed. The full process is described at www.ior.org.uk/president-elect.  If more than one candidate were to be nominated an election would be necessary with the results announced at the AGM.  An election will not be necessary this year.

There will however still be an election for Trustees of the IOR which opened on 2nd September - the IOR is governed by a Board of Elected Trustees, with two seats on the Board becoming vacant each year.  Nominations were sought in July this year and three candidates came forward. The results of these elections will be announced at the AGM.
