Just a few days left to enter the RAC IOR Student of the Year Award which gives the chance to RACHP students from all backgrounds. to share the inspiring stories and dedication of individuals that are working hard to develop their skills to support our industry. We are hoping this year will see some of the first few "trailblazer" apprentices named amongst the shortlisted finalists, as over 100 have now completed the new employer-led apprenticeship.

Students have now until 30th June to apply to be considered on the shortlist for this year’s prize.

RAC and the IOR are looking to recognise the achievements and work of students who will become the future RACHP specialists that are relied upon to deliver the cooling services that are increasingly important in all aspects of our lives.

The prize is designed to honour all students; whether individuals who have just started their training, to those who may have just completed their studies or are continuing their personal development.

This year’s chosen shortlist will be honoured at a special ceremony ahead of the 2022 Cooling Awards taking place on 22 September at the Grosvenor House Ballroom in London. The top three entries, who will each receive cash prizes, will also be recognised along with their employers during the awards themselves in front of their peers.  The winner will receive a supercar racing day from the IOR!

Share your training story

Judges are looking to hear from students about what has encouraged them to join the sector and what they hope to achieve in their careers.

Alongside demonstrating the technical skills acquired during their training, entrants - or the organisations or individuals nominating them - are asked this year to share how a student has gone above and beyond in their studies.

The prize also looks to award individuals for any additional voluntary support they have provided to the industry, perhaps through supporting broader STEM activities or by helping to raise the profile of apprenticeships and the value they have for the RACHP sector

Just as important to the application process is each student’s personal story about how they have worked to overcome specific challenges or balanced the demands of hectic everyday lives with their studies.

Time to enter

Do you have trainees that have shown inspiring dedication or skills in their work?  Perhaps, you are a student that has taken a significant role in a project or has major ambitions for your future in the industry?

Now is the chance to be recognised by the industry for your work.

You can find more details and apply for this year’s prize here.
