The Call for Abstracts for the 2nd IIR International Conference on Refrigeration Adapting to Rising Temperatures (Adaptation 2027) is now open. Organisers are inviting abstracts presenting case studies, innovations, research, and expert insights at the intersection of refrigeration technology and climate adaptation.

Contributions should align with the following themes:

  • Managing Risk
  • Environmental, Social and Governance
  • The Future Landscape of RACHP

Key dates are:

  • 16 June 2026: Abstract submission opens
  • 10 August 2026: Closing date for abstracts
  • 10 September 2026:  Notification to authors of abstract acceptance

  • 1 December 2026: Final manuscripts with required revisions submitted

Following its successful launch in 2025, the 2nd IIR International Conference in the series on Refrigeration: Adapting to Rising Temperatures (known as Adaptation 2027) is taking place from 8 to 10 March 2027 at Austin Court, Birmingham. This event, which  will be organised by the Institute of Refrigeration, will include two days of presentations, workshops and short course and one day of topical conference tours.

As rising temperatures and intensifying heatwaves put unprecedented pressure on cooling systems, Adaptation 2027 will showcase the innovations, technologies, and strategies needed to ensure the global RACHP industry can be resilient.

The conference programme will focus in part on the technical recommendations set out in the new Refrigeration Design Code for Changing Ambient, due for publication this summer. This Code has been jointly developed by the IOR and CIBSE, with valuable contributions from IMechE, FETA and CCF.

Taking a global perspective, the programme will examine adaptation strategies from around the world and bring together leading international experts to accelerate progress toward a sustainable, future‑proof cooling sector. Delegates can expect parallel streams featuring research presentations, technical case studies, interactive workshops and short courses, all designed to maximise engagement and knowledge exchange with specialists.
