IOR Board of Trustee election results
Congratulations to John Ellis and John Skelton who were elected to the IOR Board of Trustees at the IOR AGM last week - 5th November 2020. There had been six candidates for the two vacancies with the election carried out on line and results announced at the first virtual AGM attended by over 30 people on 5th November. The outgoing President Kevin Glass thanked all six candidates for standing in the elections and welcomed the new Board members who take up their role as Trustees immediately, as well as thanking the two existing Board members, Rob Lamb and John Austin-Davies whose term on the Board has now finished.
The IOR Presidency was also handed over at the meeting to Mike Creamer FInstR, who was elected last year. Mike Creamer gave his Presidential address on the topic of Oil Free Compressor Technology which was followed by a Q&A and debate with Mike, Kevin and Chair of the Technical Committee David Paget, chaired by Dermot Cotter representing the IOR Papers Committee. You can listen to a recording of the technical paper now available on the IOR website homepage. Mike will be active in IOR events and initiatives over the next two years term and has already helped support the RACHP EngTech Section with access to his series of bulletins on the Fundamentals of Air Conditioning that are being updated and reprinted to Section members every quarter. Copies will also be added to the IOR website, building up our library of air conditioning and heat pump technical expertise.

BESA, on behalf of the Engineering Building Services Skills Authority (EBBSA,) are setting up Sector Groups (SG’s) in occupations within Building Services. The SG’s purpose is to bring employers within specific occupation groups together to determine the roles that exist within that occupational area, thereafter determine a competency framework for these roles. The IOR is pleased to be invited to support this work and to help co-ordinate outputs with its own plans to map skills needs and roles in the RACHP sector.
