Dear Members

As we are all experiencing challenging and unprecedented times, I am writing to confirm that the IOR is continuing to operate with all staff working from home. Office phones will go to answerphone and you will be called back - please email to get a quicker response.

We have changed all meetings to webinars for the foreseeable future – IOR is well prepared to run web-based meetings and conference calls and has done so for some time. If you are a member of a committee or booked onto any event you will be sent a webinar registration link so that this important work can continue. IOR also has eLearning training, webinars on RACHP technical topics and issues new publications online every quarter.

We hope that this technical information and services will support our members who are working hard to keep food chains robust, hospitals safe, and necessary industrial processes or buildings operational.

On behalf of the Trustees and staff at the IOR and SES we wish all of our members, both in the UK and internationally, and those we work with good health.

At the IOR Annual General Meeting held on 29 October 2025, election results were announced. Stephen Gill FInstR was voted President-Elect, and Stephen Benton FInstR together with David Bostock FInstR were elected as Trustees to the IOR Board.

IOR And ACES Sign MOU to Foster International Collaboration

The IOR and the ACES have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen collaboration and promote the exchange of ideas and expertise during the Clean Cooling Network Conference on the Sustainable Cold Chain for the Global South, taking place at the University of Birmingham from 28–29 October 2029.

Government White Paper on Skills published

On 20^th Oct the Department for Education (with others) published this document outlining future skills policy and new V levels to sit alongside A levels and T Levels in key sectors such as engineering. The RACHP industry will need to consider what these changes mean for our work to promote skills and careers to ensure sufficient supply of well trained new entrants to our sector.
