Building on the success of the first refrigeration LEGO kit provided by FJB in 2024, the IOR has announced the launch of even more LEGO kits in collaboration with Danfoss. The kit, which models a working refrigeration plant, will be made available to STEM Ambassadors to support outreach activities in schools, colleges, and other education settings.

The LEGO kit is one of several resources available to IOR members involved in STEM engagement. In recent years, the IOR has expanded its educational offering with the development of a comprehensive STEM Toolkit and the Fantastic Fridges website (www.fantasticfridges.com), which provides accessible information on the science of cooling and the wide range of careers available in the sector.

This initiative forms part of the IOR’s strategic focus on skills, aimed at strengthening the pipeline of new talent entering the refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump industry while supporting the development of the existing workforce. Other key activities include the creation of the Industry Skills Alliance, bringing together employers, educators, and government stakeholders, and the appointment of a dedicated education outreach specialist within the IOR team. Sign up here to join the IOR Industry Alliance and to receive regular updates

The IOR is developing a team of regional Refrigeration STEM Ambassadors to go into schools and share their enthusiasm for RACHP careers with the help of the new LEGO kits.  If you are keen to promote careers to young people and join our STEM Ambassadors group to get ideas and resources to take into schools, why not take part in our next STEM event on 21 May
