Skills England has launched its Skills for Work Consultation, which is exploring how occupational standards and the qualifications and apprenticeships they support can better meet the needs of employers, learners, local economies and future growth.
As part of the consultation, employers, training providers and industry stakeholders are being invited to share their views on how the current system can be improved. This presents an important opportunity for IOR Members to highlight skills needs, support the development of new qualifications, and make the case for additional apprenticeship pathways, including a Level 2 apprenticeship.
Members are encouraged to send their comments and suggestions directly through the consultation. The IOR will also be submitting an industry response on behalf of the IOR Industry Skills Alliance.
The consultation will close on 16 October 2026.
