The IOR is a thriving community of RACHP professionals dedicated to advancing our sector.  As a member of the IOR you can take a more active role in the Institute by becoming a member of its governing body, the Board of Trustees.   Fellows, Members, Associates and Technicians are all invited to consider joining the Board in this year’s round of nominations. Each year two new Board members are elected by the membership to encourage opportunities for new people and different expertise and experience to play a role.

As member of the Board you could help steer the IOR’s direction and work in areas such as education outreach, environmental guidance, research and innovation events and supporting education and training initiatives.  If elected, you would be joining a dedicated group of nine members, volunteers such as yourself, supported by staff. All new Trustees are offered training and a role description explains the duties that include taking part in monthly online meetings.

How to stand for the Board

If you are interested in standing for election to the Board please see the guidance available at https://ior.org.uk/about/BecomeaTrustee.  You will need two members to support your nomination, to complete a form and declaration and provide a photograph by 1st August. In October members will vote for their new trustees and results are announced at the AGM.  If you would like to find out more about the role or have an informal discussion about putting your name forward please contact us.

Joining IOR committees and working groups

There are lots of different ways to get more involved in the IOR’s work such as joining a committee, regional group or offering to give a paper or talk. Many IOR groups now meet online to plan and report on activity now, so they are very accessible to members in any location.  If you are able to commit some time to taking part in a project group please contact us at ior@ior.org.uk to discuss your interests and current vacancies.
