Carbon reduction opportunities for the food chain

The food chain is estimated to produce 20-40% of total global greenhouse gas emissions. With many countries developing carbon reduction strategies, the food chain will have a significant role in reducing emissions and enable countries to achieve these pledges.

This workshop will present information from research projects working to move the food chain towards a sustainable future. It will also explore what is being done to address the challenges faced so carbon neutrality can be achieved by 2050 in the food industry.

Projects on clean and efficient refrigeration solutions for food and healthcare sectors in developing countries

This workshop gathers the ongoing projects in developing countries that will help promote the adoption of climate-friendly cold chain, air conditioning and refrigeration techniques as well as the introduction of sustainable off-grid solutions in both food and healthcare sectors

Workshop 3

Working safely with ammonia -  An IIR Refrigerant Safety Working Group Workshop. 

Workshop chair: Dr Andy Pearson

This interactive workshop will focus on working safely with ammonia.  Participants will have the opportunity to:

• Share their experiences.
• Hear what lessons have been learned 
• Discuss what can and should be done moving forward to ensure safe working practices. 

This session can only be attended by delegates of the 7th IIR International Conference of Sustainability and the Cold Chain.
