Met Office Science Lead - Food Security, Dr Pete Falloon FRMetS, FRSA has been confirmed as the second keynote at the IIR Conference on Refrigeration Adapting to Rising Temperatures.
His keynote, which will focus on what climate change means for the food system, will explore the systemic risks and opportunities facing the UK food system as ambient temperatures rise.
Drawing on his expertise in climate modelling, weather and climate data, and agri-environment systems, Dr. Falloon will outline how climate change is expected to affect the UK food system from farm to fork while considering domestic and international dimensions. He will present the latest climate projections and illustrate how data-driven adaptation planning is essential to building resilience.
This keynote is a great opportunity to get a deeper understanding of climate trends and systemic vulnerabilities. The presentation will also examine practical adaptation strategies and identify opportunities for cross-sector collaboration.
With over 50 papers being presented from across the globe, the Institute of Refrigeration is looking forward to hosting the IIR International Conference on Refrigeration Adapting to Rising Temperatures (Adaptation 2025) from 10 to 13 August 2025 in Manchester, UK.
As global temperatures continue to rise, the challenges faced by the refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump (RACHP) sectors are becoming increasingly complex. This conference will explore these critical issues and encourage the exchange of ideas and innovation among experts dedicated to developing sustainable and resilient solutions.
