The Cold Chain Federation (CCF) held its annual reception on “Securing Our Future: The Cold Chain as Critical Infrastructure” hosted by Charlotte Nichols MP at the House of Commons Terrace Pavilion on 20th May. IOR CEO Miriam Rodway, as well as several members, some of whom are pictured here, took part in the reception, illustrating just how important refrigeration expertise is to creating and maintaining a sustainable and reliable cold chain. Phil Pluck, CCF Chief Executive, spoke to those gathered about the need for the cold chain to be recognised as critical to UK national infrastructure due to its role not just in maintaining the supply of food, but also in key areas such as pharmaceuticals. He called on government support for the sector, and emphasised the importance of energy, infrastructure and resilience for an effective cold chain. The IOR works closely with the CCF as part of ACRIB, the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Board, sharing technical publications as well as information on the development of standards and legislation.
